Ghost-free infinite-derivative dilaton gravity in two dimensions

چکیده

We present the ghost-free infinite-derivative extensions of Spherically-Reduced Gravity (SRG) and Callan-Giddings-Harvey-Strominger (CGHS) theories in two space-time dimensions. For case SRG, we specify Schwarzschild-type gauge diagonalise quadratic action for field perturbations after taking background fields to be those flat-space solution with a linear dilaton. Using obtained diagonalisation, construct modifications SRG theory. In context this modified theory derive non-local modification linearised spherically-reduced Schwarzschild solution. CGHS gravity, work conformal associated general these results, examine black-hole

Infinite Derivative Gravity: A Ghost and Singularity-free Theory

The objective of this thesis is to present a viable extension of general relativity free from cosmological singularities. A viable cosmology, in this sense, is one that is free from ghosts, tachyons or exotic matter, while staying true to the theoretical foundations of General Relativity such as general covariance, as well as observed phenomenon such as the accelerated expansion of the universe...

Dilaton Gravity in Two Dimensions

The study of general two dimensional models of gravity allows to tackle basic questions of quantum gravity, bypassing important technical complications which make the treatment in higher dimensions difficult. As the physically important examples of spherically symmetric Black Holes, together with string inspired models, belong to this class, valuable knowledge can also be gained for these syste...

On Higher Derivative Gravity In Two Dimensions

The 2D gravity described by the action which is an arbitrary function of the scalar curvature f(R) is considered. The classical vacuum solutions are analyzed. The one-loop renormalizability is studied. For the function f = R lnR the model coupled with scalar (conformal) matter is exactly integrated and is shown to describe a black hole of the 2D dilaton gravity type. The influence of one-loop q...

Quantum Dilaton Gravity in Two Dimensions with Fermionic Matter

Path integral quantization of generic two-dimensional dilaton gravity nonminimally coupled to a Dirac fermion is performed. After integrating out geometry exactly, perturbation theory is employed in the matter sector to derive the lowest order gravitational vertices. Consistency with the case of scalar matter is found and issues of relevance for bosonisation are pointed out. PACS numbers: 04.60...

Dilaton-Maxwell gravity with matter near two dimensions

Unlike Einstein gravity, dilaton-Maxwell gravity with matter is renormalizable in 2 + ǫ dimensions and has a smooth ǫ → 0 limit. By performing a renormalization-group study of this last theory we show that the gravitational coupling constant G has a non-trivial, ultraviolet stable fixed point (asymptotic freedom) and that the dilatonic coupling functions (including the dilatonic potential) exhi...
